Guster: Costumes! Covers! Karaoke!
Dress as your favorite rock star and you could end up on stage with a microphone in your hand.
On The Ocean kicks off on Friday at 12PM with the Bissell Brothers x On The Ocean beer launch at the Bissell Brothers Brewery on Thompson’s Point (38 Resurgam Pl). Get a can (or a case) of On The Ocean pale ale and sample some of their delicious food.
You’ll also have an opportunity to pick your On The Ocean 2024 merch at our pop-up from 12-3PM. There will be a Beer & Bracelets event going on over at Bissell Brothers Brewery from 12-3PM. Surround yourself with Guster fans and delicious brews while making some friendship bracelets.
Next, at 7PM, we’re headed to the State Theater to get the music started. Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Band will open the night, followed by Guster playing a set along with YOU THE PEOPLE. Karaoke-style special guests will abound, and be sure to dress as your favorite rock star. Costumes encouraged!
Saturday, August 10, 2024 – Thompson’s Point
Guster
Kevin Morby • Toad the Wet Sprocket • Trousdale • Queen of Jeans • The Zambonis
Good morning and welcome to Saturday! Start your morning with some of Portland’s fine breakfast establishments. Get potato donuts at Holy Donut, swing by Tandem for cinnamon buns, or visit Scratch Baking Co for bagels. If you visit Scratch, head over to Willard Beach and eat your breakfast while sitting in the summer sand.
Adam will be heading downtown at 2PM for a meet and greet at JAR. You can get more info on this 21+ event below. Get your Guster Gummies and say “hi!”
The friendship bracelet station will be open again at Bissell Brothers from 12-3PM, and doors at Thompson’s Point open at 3PM sharp. Music on the main stage starts at 3:30PM.
The B-stage (now called the Starboard Stage) is back in 2024 with a diverse variety of entertainment. Unique Unknown will play a conscious kid-friendly hip hop set, Guster’s very own Brian Rosenworcel will be hosting a Talk On the Ocean where they interview Toad The Wet Sprocket, and The Zamboni’s will make their long overdue On The Ocean debut.
Live screen printing and the kids zone are back for 2024, as well as a collection of some of Portland’s finest food trucks.
The main stage lineup for Saturday includes Queen of Jeans, Trousdale, Kevin Morby, Toad the Wet Sprocket, and Guster. The B stage will feature, Ragtime Destroyers, Unique Unknown, The Zambonis and a Guster x Toad the Wet Sprocket Q&A .
If you’re looking to keep the party going, there will be an official aftershow party at Bissell Brothers after the show spinning tunes and hosting On The Ocean attendees.

“Lost and Gone Forever” 25th Anniversary Show
Grace Potter • The Dip • Sunny War • The Wolff Sisters
Sunday’s programming stretches into the AM hours on On The Ocean’s final day.
A small group of fans will be giving back to Portland starting at 9AM with a REVERB service project, followed by an 11AM reception at Bissell Brothers celebrating 20 years of REVERB. REVERB co-founders Adam Gardner and Lauren Sullivan will be in attendance to show a short film and talk about the work that they and countless Guster fans have done over the years. The reception is free and all are invited!
While Adam and Lauren are at Bissell Brothers, Brian will be hosting the 2nd edition of Guster Storytellers at One Longfellow Square. Tickets for this special afternoon event are sold out.
The musical lineup on the final day features The Wolff Sisters, Sunny War, The Dip, Grace Potter and (of course!) Guster with a full album Lost and Gone Forever set. The band will be discussing their beloved 1999 album during a moderated Q&A at the Starboard Stage at 4PM.
Food trucks, kids zone, and live screen printing will all be back for Sunday. Sunday’s lineup is scheduled to end by 9:15PM so everyone can get home early enough for a good night’s rest before work in the morning on Monday.
Experience
Music & Community
On The Ocean is centered around coming together and celebrating our love of music and reconnecting with old friends and new. With daily concerts from Guster and special guests plus a host of other fun activities around Portland, On The Ocean is part music festival and part travel excursion.
Activities and Exploration
Enjoy three days exploring Portland. The band is curating a handful of activities and fun things to do, including events and pop-ups around town, meet-ups at Bissell Brothers Brewing (plus a limited-edition Guster brew), a Guster-themed Storytelling event, a service project with our partners at REVERB and more.
Kids Activities
Our partnership with the Children’s Museum and Theater of Maine offers family-friendly activities on Saturday and Sunday afternoon right at Thompson’s Point. Let the little ones join in on the fun…just steps from the main stage!
Food Trucks and Local Flavor Galore
Portland is a world famous food destination and we are once again lining up some amazing local food trucks and vendors for our weekend shows at Thompson’s Point. From seafood and one-of-a-kind local flavors to kid-friendly options this weekend is more than just music.
Live Screen Printing!
We’re thrilled to be bringing back our screen printing station at the festival each day at Thompson’s Point. Let’s do some upcycling…bring along your own tee shirt, jacket, bag or garment and you’ll be able to choose from a handful of exclusive On The Ocean designs that will not be available anywhere else. (Note: There is a one-item-per-transaction limit so that every fan gets a chance to print up their own design.)
Guster Storytellers
Brian of Guster is planning to host another “Guster Storytellers” event where we share stories, laugh-cry-hug, and leave with open hearts. It’ll be around lunchtime on Sunday, August 11th at One Longfellow Square. Tickets for this special afternoon event are sold out.
